Twitter Still A Young Bird For Advertisers

Facebook Is Worth $33 Billion. More Than eBay, Yahoo, Dell...

How much is facebook's actual worth in financial terms? Forbes thinks it’s worth $23 billion. SharesPost pins its value at $26.3 billion. And finally, The Financial Times says it’s a $33 billion company.

Facebook has been seeing a phenomenal growth both in user base and the in terms of its net worth. In February 2009, Facebook valued itself at $3.7 billion. By November 2009, it tripled to $9.5 billion. With the current figure of $33 billion the value has more then tripled once again.

Facebook Places Now Live In UK

Facebook places goes like in UK, this the first time Facebook is going live with Facebook Places in European country. Facebook Places went live in Japan last week. Facebook is looking to cover one country at a time with it location based service. Gatorade turns towards social media to improve sales.

Gatorade has formed a team for 'Mission Control' which manages all the social media activity that happens around the brand 'Gatorade'. They keep a check on all the conversations or talks about gatorade, solve queries and change the brand perspective by talking to people as a person. They have made a proprietary set of protocols using products from IBM, social media tracker Radian6 and others to weigh real-time opinions. It gives importance to mentions and comments based on how influential the commenter is. Pepsico is doing this to revive one of its most profitable beverage which has experienced a decline in sales in the three years. The team was set up in April this year and since then it has seen a rise in sales by 7%, but it cannot be accurately attributed to Gatorade's social media program as summer sales could have also helped revenues. If this approach is successful they plan to replicate the idea for their other brands Quaker Oats and Tropicana.

Twitter Records 90 Million Tweets Per Day

Twitter news event was studded with lots of impressive statistics and the launch of New Twitter!! Twitter is currently recording 90 million tweets per day. Influence Metrics for Twitter: More about Klout

Klout has come up with a way to measure the overall online influence. The score ranges from 0-100 and the higher the score the more influencial you are. 25 different variables are used to arrive at the final Klout score. The variables, if generally divided, fall into three categories, i.e., true reach, amplification probability and network score.

True reach is determined by how active your fans or followers are with your brand. Of all your followers you have there are few who interact with your brand and there are many dead accounts. All this is taken into consideration when calculating the Klout score.
Amplification probability measures how actively the information that you put out is shared and spread by your followers.

The network score determines how influential your users are, how strong their network is and the level of influence of their networks.
