In a world where hybrid events have become the norm, audience engagement remains one of the biggest challenges for organizers. Ooredoo decided to break away from conventional formats and inject some fun into their seminar breaks — by turning a simple pause into a moment of excitement, competition, and reward.

To achieve this, Ooredoo partnered with AliveNow, a global creative tech studio, to create a WebAR-based memory game that engaged participants both in person and online. The result was an immersive, interactive experience that seamlessly connected audiences across formats — all with just a quick scan of a QR code.

Transforming Breaks into Interactive Experiences

Seminars often include short breaks for attendees to recharge — but the team at AliveNow saw an opportunity to make these breaks engaging and memorable.

The team designed a WebAR memory game where participants had to match identical tiles as quickly as possible. This light-hearted challenge not only encouraged healthy competition but also kept the audience energized and connected with the event’s theme.

Whether participants were sitting in the seminar hall or joining remotely, they could simply scan a QR code displayed on-screen or on-site and instantly launch the game in their browser — no app downloads, no friction.

Winners were rewarded with instant prizes, amplifying the excitement and ensuring everyone had something to look forward to during the session breaks.

At the core of this campaign was AliveNow’s WebAR platform, designed to make augmented reality experiences instantly accessible and highly engaging.

By leveraging web-based AR, AliveNow enabled Ooredoo to:

  • Engage both physical and virtual attendees in a shared interactive moment
  • Eliminate app download barriers with a browser-based experience
  • Encourage repeat participation with a quick, replayable game loop
  • Drive brand recall and positive sentiment through gamified fun
  • Offer instant gratification via on-the-spot prizes

This solution demonstrated how AR doesn’t have to be complex — it can be as simple as scanning a code and playing a game, while still delivering measurable engagement and memorable brand impact.
